Petr Bushuev is a type designer from from Pskov, Russia, with a focus on typography, branding, and graphic design. His work is always strong and visually unique, artfully crafting letterforms that are one of a kind.
One of his most recent releases through YouWorkForThem is the aptly-named Juxta Script, a type design that explores the juxtaposition of both a monolinear script and a monospaced programming sans serif.
Inspired by the aesthetics of Scandinavian design, Juxta Script’s architecture carries itself with the spirit and soul of traditional Nordic minimalistic design, with an experimental and, dare we say, futuristic flair. One wouldn’t normally associate a monospaced programming serif with script letterforms, which is perhaps the reason why Juxta Script is so unexpectedly beautiful.
This visually striking type design is at once familiar and foreign, featuring grid geometry that’s creatively accented by decorative elements like angular cross bars and loops on some of its letters. Juxta Script is coding in cursive, as if a computer were to try its own “hand” at handwriting.
Available in seven weights that include Thin, Light, Regular, Medium, SemiBold, Bold, and Black, Juxta Script is a gorgeous addition to graphic design projects that need a touch of the unexpected, including logos, labels, branding, identity, website design, mobile applications, book covers, album art, displays, signage, posters, advertising, and programming.
Juxta Script offers standard ligatures, contextual alternates, and stylistic alternates. It extends multilingual support to Basic Latin, Western European, Euro, Catalan, Baltic, Turkish, Central European, Pan African Latin, Afrikaans, and Basic Cyrillic for exceptionally far-reaching global accessibility.
