About a month ago we released a new font, Matter. We felt it would be beneficial to go an extra mile and create a small PDF zine to further show the typographic value of Matter.

We are proud to announce the release of ZINE4. This time around we used our new product line up Guilloche & Moire as the methods and medium of exploration.
Guilloche is an engraving technique in which a very precise intricate repetitive patterns or design is mechanically etched into an underlying material with very fine detail. Specifically, it involves a technique of engine turning, called guilloché in French after the French engineer “Guillot”, who invented a machine “that could scratch fine patterns and designs on metallic surfaces”. The machine improved upon the more time-consuming practice of making similar designs by hand, allowing for greater delicacy, precision, and closeness of the line, as well as greater speed.
In physics, a moire pattern is an interference pattern created, for example, when two grids are overlaid at an angle, or when they have slightly different mesh sizes. In textiles, a moire is a fabric with a wavy (watered) appearance, caused by varying the tension in the warp and weft of the weave.
A couple weeks ago, I completed a new handset font called Hugo. To celebrate the release, I have put together a short web zine (PDF) to demonstrate the flexibility of Hugo as a display face. The zine takes text from the dada writer/performance artist/other worldly being, Hugo Ball. I think the two are a great match.

We are proud to present ZINE3, the third PDF release from our design team. Once again showing many unique examples of how to work with our fonts and stock art collections. For ZINE3 we composed a continual design within the concept of Heaven and Hell. Links to the products used can be found in the last page as well.

We finally got back our latest project, Sentence. It’s an illustrated loosely around a poem by Grant Leuning and was worked on between the two YWFT Studio’s. We created the publication so that it can be viewed/displayed two different ways. You can read it like a magazine, from left to right or you can unfold it for larger spreads. It was created around a grid, so the pages somewhat relate to each other, even when out of context.

Once again, another hot use of Black Slabbath has come upon us. Check it out in the really nice pdf zine, Parq. Have you done something with a YouWorkForThem product? Don’t be shy, tell us!
