It’s that time once again, and as the man said, “The line it is drawn, the curse it is cast. The slow one now, will later be fast.” Since we wrote last year’s Top 10 Fonts post, we’ve increased our font options from 6500 to over 12,000. That’s a big Twinkie! Not to mention, with fonts designed by 127 foundries from 27 countries, the Top 10 Fonts list comes from what is a truly global playing field. It’s like the Font Olympics over here.

2012: Some folks think we’re in for a change on 12/21. Some folks are all about the 1-2. And for others, 2112 is the jam. In the end, it’s all about the numbers–and we have some big ones to share.
Between YWFT and Nanamee, we now offer over 50,000 stock designs for sale. We showcase 127 of the best type foundries in the world, from 27 different countries, and we hand-pick each typeface design–over 12,000 of them. That’s a big number for us, since we only carried about 300 fonts two years ago. Also, the number 10 is significant, as we are about to reach our 10th year of business this summer. There’s also 3–the factor our business has increased by since January, 2010. Finally, the number 1 is big for us–as in first. YWFT were first to market with the wide range of powerful type testing capabilities of our TypeBrowser™ suite, and first to offer a large collection of fonts available for mobile apps and ebooks via extended licensing right in the shopping cart.
Since I took over as sole Creative Director in 2010, I have experienced the best years of my career working to bring these numbers to fruition, and I couldn’t have done it without you–our customers. We would like to take a quick breather right now to announce some new font designers on the site. First, over the next few weeks/months we will be adding designs from the massive collection of Intellecta Design, a Brazilian type foundry focused on remastering found and antique type. Second, another Brazilian foundry by the name of BRtype has currently added six unique designs to the library. Last but not least, Rui Abreu (Portugal) has joined our site and started by added his modern design Gesta to our library.
We are currently in the works of adding even more new foundries over the next few months. As well, we have hundreds of fonts (from designers like P22 and Sudtipos) waiting to be added to our library as we speak. Launching with over 20+ fonts between the two of them, they bring us amazing new scripts, serifs and sans-serifs. Set the wayback machine for January, 2010: Network Osaka sends us their beautiful new serif, titled Haute. Immediately, it starts on a rapid climb toward becoming one of the year’s biggest sellers, and becomes a top-notch addition to the YouWorkForThem Exclusive Font Library. Now, fast-forward to present day, where we are proud to present the second exclusive release from Network Osaka, Burocrata. During the design and development of Burocrata, we worked closely with Network Osaka to make sure the finest details were reviewed, cleaned up and even polished with a chamois made of thousand-year-old yak fur. Network Osaka carried on improving more and more of the fine details with lasers and breakfast cereals late into the night, until finally, this amazing new sans serif emerged like a butterfly made of satin, covered in ice cream.

YouWorkForThem was founded and has been directed for the past eight years by Michael Paul Young & Michael Cina. In the final quarter of 2009, Michael Paul Young was elected the new President/Creative Director and Michael Cina stepped down to focus on his own personal ventures.
Resulting from the new leadership, there will be several changes forthcoming. Rest assured that YWFT will remain the same great design shop it has been since day one, and will continue to develop exclusive products in house and create custom work for clients on a select basis. Additionally, however, Mr. Young will also expand and improve several segments of the company. Already in the two months since he assumed control, Mr. Young has overseen a re-design of this website, added almost one hundred new font and stock products to the store, created the Book Archive, added new Font/Stock Art Licensing options and engaged in a new collaboration/partnership with Need Supply Co.
