tedFor all you that watch online videos, this link should make its way straight into your links. TED stands for Technology, Entertainment, Design. It started out (in 1984) as a conference bringing together people from those three worlds. Since then its scope has become ever broader. This site makes the best talks and performances from TED available to the public, for free. Almost 200 talks from our archive are now available, with more added each week. These videos are released under a Creative Commons license, so they can be freely shared and reposted.

macbookair_3904380.jpgThe new MacBook Air. For sure a step in the right direction, great idea, great design, but not quite there 100%. The no cd/dvd (but you can buy external option) is a little too far ahead, but I understand the concept. We are almost there as far as a disc free world, but at same time we are so far away. The instant on/off is wonderful, and something that should exist on all machines. The 4200 RPM hard drive will keep any real pro users away from doing much development on this, but for a coder it might be a wonderful machine? Some complaints already going about because of the 1 USB port, but the idea is wireless, so its understandable.

hipI found a nice collection of hip-hop fliers from the 70s and 80s online here. Pretty nice stuff

callNot often do you dig around and find some deep site dedicated to Calligraphy, maybe it’s just me. IAMPETH is where you need to direct your browser to, and do it fast. This site has essays, “how to” videos, examples of the best Calligraphers around, and much more.

What a way to end to end our day in the Bangkok studio and to start the day in the American studio.

I view a lot of book sites and through the years they have improved by leaps and bounds. When we first started YWFT I would beg for a text link or an Excel file that I could browse through. Anyway, one of the first sites that tried to have a cool site was Phaidon. It was black with yellow text and would never load properly. I swear on a couple of occasions we crashed their server by using the site. Anyway Phaidon now has a new site and its not half bad. The site is still slow as anything still but a lot faster and easier to use. I like the look of the top nav, feels like National Geographic for some reason to me.

Nastyness…Google’s stuff keeps getting uglier and uglier. Thats great and all its open source or whatnot, but open source-free stuff doesn’t have to be ugly. Why do all these free os’s and such always have to be so damn ugly? No matter how cool this is for letting anyone develop and go crazy, this for sure isn’t no iPhone. I could make my own preconceptions; that being these are being designed by programmers, which is most likely the case. The text messaging looks like something on the web back in 1996. But on a positive note, heh, I do have to say the 3d ability is pretty burly and nice.

work029_03.jpgDesigned to mimic the look of a trash can, TEMPO is a unique hard drive storage device. Intended to protect the user from accidentally deleting files, it can also be used as an external storage device. As you delete files, they are automatically copied to the TEMPO. As it fills up, led’s light the “can from the bottom up, informing you of how much space is available.
