Oh, the times they have a-changed since we wrote last year’s Top 10 Fonts post! (Wow, has it really been a year already?) There’s an old Japanese Proverb that states, “beginning is easy — continuing is hard.” A year ago, YouWorkForThem had seen its eighth birthday, and some parts of the shop were getting dusty. And so we started anew, with new design leadership, a deeper focus on our mission, and a plan to finish out our first decade by growing substantially. Read more…
This has been making the type world rounds lately, U&lc has started posted some free PDF downloads of old back issues. They are not the best scans (did they scan these during a Christmas office party?) but they are free, available in high resolution, and did we mention free? Grab em while they are hot, and enjoy the type insanity.

We just got a message from Aleksander Palka & Jakub Korfanty about their latest online project called Robotaposter. They tell us “We are a fresh online poster gallery dedicated to world famous polish poster art. Our gallery intends to promote ‘the golden age’ of polish poster art dated 1955-1965, a very special time when new and revolutionary ideas penetrated this particular field of graphic design.” Indeed, a very nice collection of work.
Set the wayback machine for January, 2010: Network Osaka sends us their beautiful new serif, titled Haute. Immediately, it starts on a rapid climb toward becoming one of the year’s biggest sellers, and becomes a top-notch addition to the YouWorkForThem Exclusive Font Library. Now, fast-forward to present day, where we are proud to present the second exclusive release from Network Osaka, Burocrata. During the design and development of Burocrata, we worked closely with Network Osaka to make sure the finest details were reviewed, cleaned up and even polished with a chamois made of thousand-year-old yak fur. Network Osaka carried on improving more and more of the fine details with lasers and breakfast cereals late into the night, until finally, this amazing new sans serif emerged like a butterfly made of satin, covered in ice cream.
