Swedish graphic designer Joakim Jansson is this week’s featured designer. His work encompasses many areas related to design including art direction, graphic design, typography, illustration, branding and web. He also contributes to the Style Press blog and DJs as Soda Popinski in his spare time. Here’s a little more about him and his work…
From the big wigs over at Canada Type we now have their second bundled collection. This set includes 14 different type families and a total 31 different font weights and variations. So go ahead, revive and freshen up your font collection with this super discounted set today! This package saves you over $125! In this sour economy, this might cost a grip up front, but you save so much more in the long run and grand scheme of things. Perfect for any agency or small design shop’s type collection.
Personally, I really like Canada Type and what they are doing. These guys are typeface making machines, just look at how many of their fonts we handle. I really like this work ethic, which is, well WORK!
A good strategy for design and maybe even for life is to be more weird than the guy next to you. Tokyo/Osaka’s It’s Our Thing is accomplishing this one t-shirt at a time.
Super nice guy and talented illustrator Damien Correll has been doing these beautiful covers for the podcasts over at Radiozero. Go there and check them out as well as the podcast if you need some tunes to get you set for the weekend.
I am going to riff a little with the spirit of today’s theme, Earth Day.
First, there is a really nice zine for earth day titled, RRR. You can check the pdf out here and has a lot of really nice work from a lot of players in the illustration-design arena. I think you can only find it here, so feel free to link this post up. Proceeds from future sales of the printed versions of this book or artwork found within will go to benefit the Surfrider Foundation. Don’t forget to check out Steven Harrington’s Earth Day poster. Thanks, Jonathan.
I really like themes, collections, etc so thought I would put my top 10 albums to listen to today:
David Axelrod - Earth Rot
Marion Brown – Sweet Earth Flying
Dee Dee Bridgewater – Red Earth
Georgia Anne Muldrow - Olesi: Fragments Of An Earth
Sandoz - Live In The Earth
Augustus Pablo - Earth’s Rightful Ruler
Madlib – Earth Sounds
Vangelis – Earth (Essential listen)
Explosions In The Sky - The Earth Is Not A Cold Dead Place

If you’re in Minneapolis tonight, PB&J (Peter, Bjorn, and John) are playing a show with Chairlift at the Fine Line Music Cafe. This beautiful poster was screen printed by Mr. EMQUINN and features a YouWorkForThem typeface Augustus designed by Karl Frankowski. Buy a print at the show this evening.

My latest side project for Graphic Designers and creatives is called Buamai. The project is only few months old but we already have 3000 images blogged. As of today, we now gave a great new iPhone application to bring this content to you while you are mobile. The application was created to grab random images from our server to cure your boredom as well as inspire. Images found on our site are mainly of Graphic Design, Art and Architecture interest but with some random, strange images thrown in for variety. Use our website to cure boredom, find talented artists or for gathering inspiration.
