I’m trying to get this posted before Matt walks in the door. He’s been coming into our office lately to work on some new fonts, because this office is a designated typographic zone. When Matt isn’t making fonts he’s filming, experimenting with photography, and racing over midwestern hills and across valleys in his VW. And you can see all of this unfold on his Flickr.

We are a little late on this, but the Fleuron posted a list of their Top 10 Type Foundries You Should Know About. We are happy to be included amongst them.

What are some of your favorite type foundries (other than us, of course)?

About a month ago we released a new font, Matter. We felt it would be beneficial to go an extra mile and create a small PDF zine to further show the typographic value of Matter.

From the big wigs over at Canada Type we now have their second bundled collection. This set includes 14 different type families and a total 31 different font weights and variations. So go ahead, revive and freshen up your font collection with this super discounted set today! This package saves you over $125! In this sour economy, this might cost a grip up front, but you save so much more in the long run and grand scheme of things. Perfect for any agency or small design shop’s type collection.

Personally, I really like Canada Type and what they are doing. These guys are typeface making machines, just look at how many of their fonts we handle. I really like this work ethic, which is, well WORK!

If you’re in Minneapolis tonight, PB&J (Peter, Bjorn, and John) are playing a show with Chairlift at the Fine Line Music Cafe. This beautiful poster was screen printed by Mr. EMQUINN and features a YouWorkForThem typeface Augustus designed by Karl Frankowski. Buy a print at the show this evening.

A behind the scenes look at our new handset font, Michel. The letters were created by a wild, untamed river of ink carried by water’s movement across the page.

Matt Desmond‘s new font, Bandoleer, got us into a little bit of organizing before the weekend so we added a Stencil category under Fonts.

SCAD student Collin Willis’s work’s got energy, I love his rendering of Black Slabbath – take a peek.

We’ve been working hard to produce some compelling new fonts. Here are the four most recent additions to our collection. Meet Matter, Merriam, Morricone, and Pineapple.

This web page is imperfect. I apologize for all errors and omissions. Please do not read it as a sort of ultimate reference, because it isn’t. However, all type designers and typographers are hereby invited for drinks at my place in Montreal.”

Time and time again while researching fonts, we are dropped off by Google at this weird, but impressive resource of typographic history. We are baffled by how much information is here and how up to date the content is. It’s not a blog, its more like an abridged encyclopedia or a wikipedia just for type. Luc Devroye is the site’s keeper/professor/monk/archiver. Next time we’re in Montreal, we’ll definitely have to take him up on that drink.

2390849904_82af7d92cbMatt Desmond is well known for making fonts, but most people don’t know that Matt loves cars. The last year of his life he spent filming cars and was working on two videos. His first video is now finished and I have seen some clips and he did a great job. Hopefully Matt will be focusing on fonts this year! ;)

Over the past few weeks we have launched some really nice handsets into the store. Many new ideas and experiments in the latest collections.
