This is very Friday worthy news:

“Aiko is a 32-kilogram female android that Trung began building in August of last year. She is just under five feet tall, has brown eyes that can distinguish 300 faces per second and speaks 13,000 English and Japanese phrases. Her skin is made of silicone and her insides are made of an expensive collection of wires, motors and various sensors. In total, Trung has spent more than $20,000 developing Aiko, maxing out three credit cards in the process. The silicone alone cost $6,000 — but Trung insists it was a necessary expense.”

I really liked this part of the article:

“On his wish list? Teaching Aiko to dust, to clean toilets and to clean his ears with a Q-tip.”

YouWorkForThem Celebrates Six Years (Bangkok)
Our birthday was actually back in June, but we have been so busy we forgot to party, so lets do it! There will be free food, live bands from Parinam Records and projections of our latest videos. Phra Nakorn Bar is located by the Democracy Monument. Go through the roundabout, heading towards Sanamluang. After the first red light, it will be the first soi on your left. Phra Nakorn bar will be straight ahead on the right.

I have left Windows behind me and I am not looking back. That being said, I know many people still prefer Windows over Mac. Whatever floats your boat right? So you may find this preview of Windows 7 interesting. Microsoft is fairly confident this will crush Vista and bring back your faith.

They lost my faith around the time of Windows 2000…

As if Reason #4123 Uniqlock wasn’t enough, my favorite fashion brand has gone even further by giving away FREE clothes in NYC this November by way of Human Vending Machines! A Uniqlo rep describes it as such, “Basically we’re going to have two mimes. A male and a female mime inside the machine. And the public can see them through glass. When you get there, we’re going to have Uniqlo reps dressed in the silver bodysuits. And they’re going to hold a thermograph scanner — think of an airport security machine. The thermographer identifies cold spots in your body. After you go through that, you go to the vending machine and push a button and the mimes are going to do a synchronized choreographed routine and then your outfit comes out.” Check out the post on NewYork Mag for more details.

Mac Funamizu’s phone concept using a wrap around screen is the you know what of phone design. It would really interesting to play with visuals/videos on that sort of screen format. Ah, we can hope right? (Boing Boing)

Remember Lamborghini? You know, the 80′s sports car sensation with its insane yellow and fire red colors. Anyways, did you know they are now a profitable company that sells over 2000 cars a year? Previously they used to only sell around 200-300 cars a year! Well, they have now taken a strange journey into creating a sedan, if you can call it that. Read more…

oblique_strategies_04.jpgEveryone needs help overcoming their mental blocks, that’s why there’s Oblique Strategies…

Oblique Strategies, was initially conceived by Brian Eno and Peter Schmidt in 1975. It is a tool that consists of self-imposed dilemmas to help creative people push through mental blocks.

Take a look at Gregory Taylor’s website, which is completely devoted to Oblique Strategies, and includes the complete text from editions 1-4 of the card decks published by Eno, and Schmidt.

My friend sent me a link to the website of Yeondoo Jung, a Korean artist who recreates literal interpretations of children’s drawings. I’m glad someone is paying attention to these young, active imaginations!wonderland_07.jpg

I grew up in the 80′s in no other than the grand ole Tennessee, USA. If you came from the south around this time also, then you might remember an amazing place called Showbiz Pizza Place. For those not in the know, this was our Chucky Cheese. Anyways, the original coder/developer (Aaron Fechter) still uses them to compose modern songs! Not only that, my friend Steven has informed me, they are now coming out with a documentary on all this.

Its a Friday, so a little extra fun was in store while I took a break from coding. Reading Gizmodo, came across this delicious link. That guy on the front page video is on pure maniac status, who in the hell shaves without gel? I mean common, at least use some soap? That being said, I cannot get Hannibal Lector out of my mind now..
