The YouWorkForThem Blog

Since its inception in 2009, Nanamee has grown to include over 25,000 curated stock images, vectors and audio, in a community that has grown to over 10,000 members.

Now, we are very proud to present The New Nanamee, and we hope you’ll agree with us that it is simply the most elegant, efficient way to purchase the best stock art online.

First up, the obvious–Nanamee now comes in a full-width layout, and you can now purchase items right from the thumbnail, thus making the shopping process a one-click transaction. If you have credits in your account, you can simply fly through the site selecting beautiful images, vectors and audio. Think of it like a prepaid phone card, rather than a shopping cart. We think this presents a much more efficient way to browse Nanamee’s massive stock library.

The interface is now sortable by media type at any point, and everything has been re-optimized. The images are much larger, resulting in huge previews in both “thumbnail” and “page” mode. Audio files now show runtime/duration in the file title, as well as Genre/ BPM details. There is also a new “Shuffle” sort option, which can be a great way to find inspiration for your designs.

Also, Nanamee is now powered by all-new credit pricing options, with packages as low as 70 cents per credit! Credit is available for purchase with any major Credit Card and/or PayPal.

The New Nanamee has been completely re-coded, which has increased the speed of the site by a factor of 5x, and all of the account areas have have been overhauled. “Likes” are much easier to add, view, and navigate, and “Follow” is much easier as well, with all-new sort and filter capabilities for designers you are subscribed to. You can also now log in to Nanamee using either your YouWorkForThem or Facebook account.

Sellers can now upload 20 files at a time–no more “one by one” restrictions, and the tool for adding new stock has been made faster and more efficient. Sales reports are now easier to read, and you can now export to CSV for use in your own local software/records. The new profile page design follows the new full-width layout.

Finally, thousands of new items have been uploaded into Nanamee from our exclusive YouWorkForThem stock library. For the first time ever, you can now buy these items individually, outside of their standard sets on YouWorkForThem.

And there you have it, folks. The New Nanamee. It’s live right now. Get over there and start downloading. Because with better stock art, you design better stuff, and that’s what we think 2013 is all about: Being Better.

Summer’s here (for those of us in the northern hemisphere) and the time is right, and as always we’ve been busy behind the scenes here at YouWorkForThem. We’ve got some cool new features, tweaks, and general change-for-the-better to announce, so buckle up and watch the blinking lights.

Along with this new page listing, we updated the Designers listing as well with new sorting features.

Last week we updated our site with dozens of new features like TypeBrowser™ and the new Mobile Font Licenses. Another one of these updates was a little hidden gem, AutoSuggest. Now when you begin typing a few characters into the search box (top right of our shop, not this blog) the form will begin to suggest what items you may be looking for. This could be products, particular foundries/designers or even product sub-sections.

For example, typing ‘St‘ will find the 10 most popular products, 6 foundries/designers and 3 product sections that all start with those letters. Another little secret, if you can remember the product SKU* number, simply type the 5 digit number into the search box and our system will find the product for you!

*SKU numbers are the 5 digit codes you will find on each particular product page in the URL, for example the SKU for YWFT Agostina is T0207. You can also find the SKU number on any images you might save from the slide shows, for example T0207_00.jpg is the cover image for the YWFT Agostina slide show.

Downloads
Hey there everyone! You will be happy to know we’ve just updated our site, and you’ll notice some changes that we hope will make your experience smoother and faster. Most importantly, we’ve removed any sort of expiration date on your purchases. You can now re-download anything you’ve purchased, forever. This even includes purchases made prior to this posting. We’ve also removed a lot of old code and considerably increased the speed of the products pages, as well as redesigned the cart and the checkout pages. Cheers!

Cumulus & Foam, the most beautifully grotesque font of our time. After many years of fine tuning and development, Stefan Kjartansson’s (designer of Black Slabbath) magnificent monster is now available for you to purchase. In honor of this very special occasion, all orders for the complete family will receive a copy of the book above for FREE! No additional shipping fees, it’s completely free! Read more…

We haven’t tried out this little iphone/flash game yet, but it looks pretty funny..

Buamai

Some of you may already know, but we have been developing and maintaining a little image blog/community called Buamai since late 2008. We recently did a little spring cleaning on the code and layout of the site, making for a much easier and quicker experience when searching and browsing for images. Also, be sure to check out the iPhone app if you enjoy the site. At only 99 cents, app purchases help us raise funds to continue working on the site and keeping it alive.

Word of warning, some images might not be safe for work (nsfw).

Not sure we can classify this as an actual font, but we get the idea here. As URIKANE states, yes it seems he has way to much free time.

Noticed today the people from Creative Applications have a Vimeo channel, and it sure is full of some gems! Dig through the channel for loads of visual inspiration posted by numerous Vimeo members.

twitter_cnn

CNN just posted a iphone app on itunes, and its getting quite the stir of attention right now. They really revamped the idea of a news app for the iphone, with saving articles, live video* and the iReport features built into the app. I think the price is fairly nice, $2 for such a large amount of app development work and a nice app is a pretty good deal. BUT….it has ads, and when you read the reviews on itunes, its like a wild witch hunt right now. CNN, people do not like paying for an app, then getting ads. I know where you are coming from with this, cough cough business model. CNN, ads in a pay app is a no-no, and you just pissed off thousands of people in the first week of launch.

Second, what in the world is with the news articles being white text on a black background? Its bad, backwards and hard to read. Next update, give me articles on a white background or at least the option. I posted a quick mockup (invert) of the way the article SHOULD be read, black text on white. For the love of god, fix this, right now I don’t even want to read the articles. This is a news app, not a twitter app.
