Herb Lubalin is one of the most iconic typographers of the 20th century. Probably most well known for his typeface, Avant Garde, Lubalin was an absolute master of expressive typography, chucking the rules of traditional typography straight out the window in favor of artistic expression. In fact, he rejected the idea of calling himself a typographer because the term, in his opinion, felt too “mechanical.”
His unique perspective on typography is what made the man a legend in his field. To Lubalin, type would always be more than just a series of letters and words; it was a visual art form all its own.
YouWorkForThem’s release, YWFT Valley, pays homage to post-modernistic innovation and freedom of expression through type. We openly embraced the avant-garde, experimenting with sticks and balls to create letterforms reminiscent of Lubalin’s signature style. YWFT Valley’s architecture is tall and lean, with a touch of “je ne sais quoi,” thrown in for good measure.
Elegant and unorthodox, YWFT Valley is a stylish choice for design projects that want to take an unconventional approach, including posters, book covers, advertising, logos, signage, and displays.
YWFT Valley offers contextual alternates, stunningly beautiful discretionary ligatures, and a series of swash alternates for incredible design versatility. Its multilingual support extends to Basic Latin, Western European, Euro, Central European, and Pan African Latin languages for global accessibility.
YouWorkForThem is The Original Creative Marketplace, created by designers for designers. We have more than 100 products available through our portfolio, a rich anthology of type designs to suit projects of all kinds.
