Established by Alberto Romanos in 2014, Branding With Type is a studio with a heavy emphasis on branding and identity. Much of Alberto’s career has focused on those specific industry demands, and he has certainly excelled in his field. He thoroughly understands the vital role of smart type design in successful branding campaigns, always managing to capture the essence of a client’s message in visual media.
Graduating with a BA in Industrial Design from the University of Wales in 2002 and an MA in Graphic Branding and Identity in 2009, Alberto has gone on to work with an incredible list of international clientele that includes Sony Ericsson, Tetley, BP, Wrigleys, Ernst & Young, British Airways, and Barclays, among many others. He has a gift for conveying the voice of a company’s identity, and the type designs released through Branding With Type offer a flexibility that enables design cohesion through multiple platforms with the utmost ease.
When Alberto worked as a full-time graphic designer, his process typically began at the typography stage where he would sketch ideas until a visual direction became clear. Following deeper explorations into typography after years of working in the field, a new career path emerged and he’s stayed with typography ever since.
One of Alberto’s most recent releases is BW Gradual, a geometric sans serif with a lot of contrast and graceful, eye-catching curves. This type design exudes the basic practicality of the geometric grotesque genre and combines it with the unexpected charm of eroded stems and deep joins. Put in the simplest of terms, it’s a damn beautiful font.
BW Gradual is a visually-stimulating and incredibly versatile font family that will turn heads wherever it’s placed. Bold displays, advertising layouts, product packaging, and signage will relish its distinctive letterforms, instantly capturing the attention of every viewer within its line of sight. BW Gradual was designed to be exceedingly flexible, delivering a reading experience that’s easy on the eyes and clearly legible. In smaller point, BW Gradual presents a distinctive option for engaging editorials, web content, and mobile applications.
Bw Gradual is available in seven weights that include Thin, Light, Regular, Medium, Bold, ExtraBold, and Black, with corresponding oblique italics for each. This wide range of weights and widths allows for effortless design cohesion in corporate branding environments. It includes useful OpenType features like case-sensitive forms, discretionary ligatures, numerators, denominators, fractions, and oldstyle figures for additional design versatility. Multilingual support for BW Gradual extends to Basic Latin, Western European, Euro, Baltic, Turkish, Central European, Romanian, Pan African Latin, and Basic Greek for easy global accessibility.
