The brilliant artist behind Walking Fearless is João Miranda, a passionate designer with a multifaceted creative focus that includes graphic design, art direction, illustration, lettering, and branding. Based in Brixton, London, João’s affection for letter design first began with graffiti, which blossomed through further education and eventually grew into a career that he enjoys immensely. In his own words he admits, “If I had to be something, I would be a letter.” If that simple statement doesn’t convey his dedication to his craft, nothing will.
João’s latest release, Calma Display, carries a decidedly feminine expression. Carefree curves and a smooth, polished style are distinctive characteristics of this font, exuding a confident sophistication wherever it’s applied.
Calma Display is striking in advertising spreads and editorial applications. Its effortless panache also makes it particularly well suited for high-end product packaging, including skincare products, makeup, and expensive perfumes.
Featuring nine variations of regular and italicized letter sets, Calma Display provides 810 glyphs for extensive design versatility. Capitals to small caps, standard and discretionary ligatures, fractions, subscripts and superscripts make this an incredibly well-rounded font, but it also includes Art Nouveau stylistic alternates for additional flexibility and charm. As if that weren’t enough, sweetly curled ornaments add a delicate flair and the perfect finishing touch to labels, tags, business cards, signs, and product packaging.
