Adam Ladd’s livelihood is firmly seated in the fields of art direction and graphic design, having worked on a variety of projects that include magazines, logos, and of course, type design. The Cincinnati-based designer has certainly seen his share of success since he first entered the professional world in 2003, with his work and experiences being featured in several books and on the design review site, Brand New. No stranger to branding, Adam’s current type designs on YouWorkForThem are strongly rooted in vintage appeal.
His latest release, Oilvare, found its inspiration in vintage painted signs and oil cans. Oilvare’s slightly irregular edges give the impression of authentically handcrafted lettering, further adding to its mid century rustic charm. This intricately layered letter set is instantly brought to life through its highlight and shadow options, making it an especially effective choice for displays, signage, branding, and product packaging.
The complete Oilvare family is comprised of 18 fonts with a few “rough” variations for additional texture, giving designers an incredible amount of versatility in their work. Oilvare includes discretionary ligatures and fractions, and its multilingual support includes Basic Latin, Western European, Euro, Catalan, Baltic, Turkish, Central European, Romanian, Pan African Latin, and Dutch.
Adam Ladd currently has two products available through YouWorkForThem, but we greatly look forward to his future work. Visit his portfolio today and bookmark it so you can check back often for new additions!
