Swedish graphic designer Joakim Jansson is this week’s featured designer. His work encompasses many areas related to design including art direction, graphic design, typography, illustration, branding and web. He also contributes to the Style Press blog and DJs as Soda Popinski in his spare time. Here’s a little more about him and his work…

Name: Joakim Jansson

Company: I work with Making Waves in Oslo. In my spare time I work under my freelance moniker 1-UP, and I try to take on some smaller freelance projects. Projects that I’m not doing at work so much, where I mostly work with bigger corporate websites. That way I get a bit of both worlds.

Short explanation of what you do or who you are, one or two sentences.
I’m a graphic designer from Sweden. Living and working in Oslo, Norway since 2005. I’m passionate about graphic design, typography and music. I like to combine these interests as much as possible. I’ve just started a pop club in Oslo called Soda Popinski, where I’m also djing. I’m also and avid Liverpool FC supporter.

What are you working on right now?
I’ve just released my portfolio a couple of days ago, so that’s what I’ve been working with recently. Now I wanna start working on a new font.

What career would you switch to if you had to stop your current profession?
Maybe have a little record store? Like John Cusack in High Fidelity. I think it would be something music-related anyway. Maybe arranging a festival or something.

Thanks to Joakim for taking the time to give us these responses. If you missed the previous profile on Laurent Fetis, go here to read that.
